The Juniper House & Boulder, Utah
Part of the medicine is the place.
Quaint, quiet, and built from what the land gave back.
The Juniper House sits at the base of Boulder Mountain — a quaint, unique little home built from roughly 75% recycled and repurposed materials. It has a full kitchen, indoor and outdoor bathtubs, an indoor and outdoor shower, a fireplace, and Wi-Fi when you want it. It lends itself completely to experiencing the seasons: an outdoor bath under the stars in summer, the fireplace going while snow settles on the mountain in winter.
It is fairly isolated from other homes without being remote in any difficult way — seclusion without isolation. You'll hear the creek, the waterfall, birdsong, and wind in the leaves; and town, with its resources and two genuinely celebrated kitchens, is just a short drive away. The house sleeps up to four; healing retreats center on one or two guests, while wellness and education retreats can host small groups.
Why Boulder, Utah is special
Boulder sits on Scenic Byway 12 — routinely named among the most beautiful drives in America — between the forests of Boulder Mountain and the canyon country of Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. It's a town of a few hundred people that was among the last in the country to receive its mail by mule train, and it still feels that unhurried.
The hiking is world-class and starts minutes from the door — Calf Creek Falls, slot canyons, slickrock, and aspen forest. The night skies are among the darkest in the nation. And for a town this small, the food is famous: the world-renowned Hell's Backbone Grill, and local fare at Sweetwater Kitchen at the Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch.

What each season brings
Spring
Wildflowers, rising creeks, and cool bright days — the season Ayurveda gives to clearing what winter stored. Days warm steadily; nights stay crisp.
Summer
Warm, dry days and blissfully cool high-desert nights at 6,700 feet. Outdoor showers, star baths, and long evenings on the land.
Autumn
Boulder Mountain turns to gold as the aspens change — many say the most beautiful weeks of the year. Clear days, cold nights, extraordinary light.
Winter
Snow on the mountain, quiet at its deepest, the fireplace lit. The most secluded season of all — for retreats that are mostly about rest.

Four hours of beautiful, simple driving.
Boulder is about four hours from a variety of airports, and the drive itself — especially the last hour on Scenic Byway 12 — is part of the retreat. Most guests fly into Salt Lake City or Las Vegas; regional airports at St. George and Cedar City shorten the drive further. Detailed directions come with your booking, and Britney will help you plan the route.
